Europeiska humanistunionen på väg mot samgående med Internationella humanisterna

På Europeiska humanistunionens (EHF) årsmöte fattades idag beslutet att fortsätta processen med att gå samman med Internationella humanisterna (HI). Detta som fortsättning på en process som inletts tidigare, med syfte att fokusera det internationella arbetet för humanism, sekularism och mänskliga rättigheter inom en paraplyorganisation. Det förarbete som gjorts av en övergångskomission inom EHF:s styrelse bedömdes som en bra bas att fortsätta arbetet på. Årsmötet uttryckte också uppskattning gentemot HI för deras välvilliga inställning till att inhysa det Europeiska arbetet i sin verksamhet. För att vara mer specifik röstades tre punkter igenom:

1. The GA 2021 of the EHF takes note of the outcome of the negotiations with Humanists International as well as the reservations expressed and thanks the Transition Commission for the work done.
2. The GA appreciates the willingness of HI to enable those organisations, which are members of EHF but not of HI, the become a member of HI in a privileged, uncomplicated process. It takes note of the Board’s recommendation that those organisations which are also members of the HI promote or enable a further development of the HI in this sense of the outcome of the negotiations in the GA of the HI.
3. The GA decides that the Board shall review the results of the further development of the HI in the sense of the negotiation result in due course, at the latest by the end of the year 2021, and, should this review be positive, convene an extraordinary GA in due course with the aim of dissolving the EHF. In this case, the GA expressly authorizes the Board to take all steps necessary for this purpose, namely the technical preparations for the dissolution of the EHF.
